Ultraman Toy Blog Vol. 57 Earth Garon Development Story 2 + Secret Information Revealed at the Tokyo Toy Show!?
Hello everyone! I'm Nono, in charge of planning and development Ultraman toys.
June has arrived, and the broadcast start date for "Ultraman Blazar" is fast approaching!
This Saturday, June 10th and Sunday, June 11th, all Blazer toys will be unveiled at the Tokyo Toy Show 2023!
The program's premiere announcement event will be held next Monday, June 12th!
That weekend, on Saturday, June 17th, the soft vinyl "Ultraman Blazar" will go on sale!
...The information is about to be released at a furious pace, and the excitement is only building!!

Now, as for the development status of Blazer toys,
Mass production of the "DX Blazar Brace" has finally been completed! All that's left is to wait for its release.
Mass production of "DX Earth Garon" has also started, and in fact, I just received a sample of the actual product today!

So today, we'll be bringing you the second feature article on "DX Earth Garon," using a brand new product sample.
In the previous article, we talked about Earth Garon 's "movability."
This time, I would like to review the appeal of the product itself, including my particular preferences and development secrets.
Take it out of the package and check it out from head to toe.
＜A truly authentic design＞
The first thing I want to tell you about is its shape.
The most notable thing about this Earth Garon is his handsome face!
Although it has a classic silhouette that is reminiscent of "THE monster," with its two dog-like ears, round eyes, and headphone-like decorations, it is an exquisite design that gives it a sense of not only "cool" but also "cuteness."
By the way, due to certain circumstances, the design of this head is extremely similar to the suit in the movie.
It's not just a matter of the designer's skill or the amount of revisions that have been made, but the reproduction is extremely faithful, even down to the fine details of the surface structure.
So why are they so similar?
In fact, this Earth Garon was designed with the cooperation of LSS, the modeling department of Tsuburaya Productions, based on the same model as the suit used in the film!
Of course, since it is a toy for children and will be mass-produced using molds, there are some small adjustments that have been made from the perspective of durability and safety, but because the original is the "real thing," the silhouette has been reproduced with an extremely high degree of fidelity.
＜Painted and molded in exquisite colors!＞
In order to make this attractive design stand out even more, we paid particular attention to reproducing the colors.
For example, the grey tones used from the forehead to the neck are carefully chosen using different tones for the paint and molding colors.
Naturally, the colors were chosen to match the image in the movie, but because the toy is much smaller and more dense than the actual suit, subtle color differences, even though the colors are the same gray, increase the amount of detail contained in the figure.
The same technique is used for the metallic blue parts, and the molding color of the torso and limbs is subtly changed (within the limits of not looking out of place!).
＜The raging “embossing”＞
Another aspect of product decoration worth noting is the "embossing" process, which is achieved through special processing on the mold.
Ordinary molded products have a smooth surface, but by applying this "embossing" process, fine patterns can be added to the surface of the molded product, making it possible to express a variety of textures.
What I would especially like you to take a look at is the neck design!
It faithfully reproduces the nanofiber-like mesh pattern found in the actual suit.
The difference is immediately clear when comparing the product photo with the sample before the embossing was applied.
The promotional photo was taken before the textured finish, so the mass-produced version looks much cooler and has been improved. We recommend that you check out the actual product for yourself.
Similar processing has been applied to every detail of the body, so be sure to check out the following!

We continued to polish and adjust the "DX Earth Garon" right up until the very last moment before mass production, so it's even cooler than it was initially reported!
▲The joints are well-defined and it's possible to create gravity-defying poses that make you wonder at first glance, "How does it even have the balance to stand on its own!?"
