Hello everyone.
My name is Nino and I am in charge of Ultraman toy planning and development.

The first episode of "Ultraman Omega" will be broadcast on Saturday, July 5th, and the toy release is just around the corner!

Today is finally the main event.
We will feature the "Transformation Item DX Omega Slugger."

I believe you have already seen the basic concept and gameplay on the product page and in the promotional video.
Today, I'd like to focus on the points that can only be complemented by a blog!

■Which do you recommend, a single item or a set?
Now, "DX Omega Slugger" is sold in two forms.

The single version, priced at 5,995 yen including tax, is the cheapest transformation item in Ultraman series in the past six years!
It's still not cheap, but we've done our best to make it as affordable as possible.

On the other hand, the set version is more expensive but comes with a lot of content, including 10 meteors and a meteor holder.

Here is a comparison of Contents.

The "Strongest NARIKIRI Set" is truly the strongest complete set, as it allows you to transform into Omega into all three forms!

Other than that, the points unique to the set version are summarized in the chart below.

The "DX Ultra Meteor 03" series, Trigallon Meteor, Geed Meteor, and Belial Meteor, will be released individually on Saturday, August 16th.
If you purchase the Strongest NARIKIRI Play Set on the day of release, you'll be able to experience NARIKIRI-playing six weeks early.
(The specifications are not different from the standalone version.)

moreover!
This "Strongest NARIKIRI Set" has a meteor that can only be found in this set...
This is the "Zero & Z Meteor," which is inspired by the passing of the baton from the Stars.

This Meteor is very special.
When you set it in the DX Omega Slugger, a special message from Zero and Z, recorded specifically for this occasion, will play.
Other sound effects are also activated to an amazing extent, so with just this one item you can enjoy the volume of sound of about one small NARIKIRI item.

Taking into account the above,
If you buy the strongest set, you will definitely experience overwhelming play value.

On top of that, the standalone version also has the simple advantage of allowing you to enjoy NARIKIRI transforming into Ultraman Omega at an affordable price.
We hope this information will help you decide which one to purchase!

■ Playing with the final product
Next, we used samples of the final product that will actually be on the shelves in stores.
I would like to review the flow of the game and the gimmicks!

When you play with the Omega Slugger, you start in "Slugger Mode."

The mechanical details on the blade are really cool.
In fact, these detail lines are not unique to the item; the same pattern can be found on the slugger part of Ultraman Omega's head.

The power switch is on the back, and when you turn it on...

The "Slugger summoning sound" will be played when Sorato summons his slugger.
This sound can also be played after startup by pressing and holding the trigger button.

In "Slugger Mode," when you briefly press the trigger, you hear sounds like "Zubash!" or "Jakin!"
The slugger sound will sound.

The image shows the Omega Meteor stuck in it,
The variation in the slugger sound changes when you haven't landed a Meteor and when you have landed an Omega Meteor.

Now, let's review the transformation sequence using Omega Meteor!

The Omega Meteor is loaded into the rear of the slugger mode.

It's easy to get it wrong when you first play, but Meteor should be loaded with the light blue clear parts facing forward.
It also has sliding rails, so if the insertion direction and orientation are correct, it will click into place with a satisfying "clang!".

Once Meteor is loaded, a standby sound will start to play...
Next comes the instant transformation from "Slugger Mode" to "Change Mode".

If you place your hand under the blade and pull it down...
The main body expands widely!

It transforms into "Change Mode" in a flash!

At the same time as the transformation, the standby sound changes to a sound exclusive to Omega Meteor,
The exposed meteor part (the part that resembles the color timer) lights up with an LED.

The structure is such that an LED is shone from the Omega Slugger towards Meteor, and the Meteor then diffuses the light into the internal cavity, causing it to glow.

What's more, during standby the LED colour changes from light blue to blue to green!

This is the same production that is used in the play, so be sure to check it out.

Finally, press the trigger to activate Ultraman Omega's transformation melody!

The transformation melody is a cool rock tune that reminds us of the intro to Omega's theme song "BRIGHT EYES"!

With this, the transformation into Omega is complete... but...

But that's not all there is to it as a toy!
Press the trigger again after transforming to activate additional sound effects!

Taking Omega Meteor as an example, the following sound will be played:

The sound that plays after the transformation play is complete will change depending on the meteor you set.
Even in the case of the same "Omega Meteor," different sounds are played for each variation, such as the "SG version (candy toy)" and the "GP version (gachapon)."

▼Sound from the candy toy version of "Omega Meteor SG ver."

▼Gashapon version "Omega Meteor GP version" sound

For fans who love the series deeply and dearly
We hope to give back to our customers in the form of "the more you collect, the more you can play."
Please pay attention to the differences between each meteor.

■ Niche development stories
These are the main ways to play, so from now on I will introduce some things that can only be found on this blog.
We'll introduce you to some of the more obscure points!

●Speaker placement for easy sound
This time, the speakers are positioned so that they face towards you while you're playing, making the sound very easy to hear!

As a person in charge, I am very particular about the voice and sound quality,
I always want to improve the sound quality as much as possible within the limited specifications.

Therefore, this time, we have implemented a process that reduces the data compression rate (improves sound quality) for particularly important audio data, such as the "Omega transformation sound."
It's not just about making the sound louder, but about improving the sound quality itself.
Although this is still within the realm of toy specs, I think the sound is quite clear.

●How do you read Ultra Meteors?
To individually detect the linked items in this case, we use terminals called "pogo pins."

The system works by contacting the three protrusions on the loading port with the base at the base of the Ultra Meteor and passing electricity through it, which allows the individual ID to be read.

The mechanism itself is the same as that used by a certain candy brand, but in terms of development technology, the challenge lies in the "slide to load" aspect.

The maximum number of IDs that can be read is more than 100, so
The more Ultra Meteor series you collect, the more depth of sound play you can enjoy!

●What kind of sound does Legend Ultraman 's Meteor make?

Next, we will introduce how you can play with the Meteors of the Ultraman.

First, in "Slugger Mode"
Each hero's slugger attack, sword weapon slash sound, slash attack, etc.
A sound effect that matches the image of a "slugger" will be played. *There are some exceptions.

Some examples:
・ Ultraseven Seven Meteor ⇒ Ice Slinger sound (easy to understand!)
・ Ultraseven Seven 21 Meteor⇒Velzard sound
・ Ultraman Z Meteor Delta Rise Claw ⇒ Beliarok slash sound
・ Ultraman A Meteor ⇒ Ultra Guillotine Sound
・ Ultraman Tiga Meteor ⇒ Tiga slicer sound
The image is something like this.

There are quite a lot of rare sound sources, and I was developing it while thinking that Seven21's Velzard sound may never be recorded again.

In "Change Mode",
Each hero's transformation sounds, shouts, special move sounds, etc.
A more unusual feature is the color timer sound.
One of the key features we paid particular attention to is that when the color timer sound is made, the LED also flashes red.
(*Some models, such as Seven, do not have a color timer sound due to their settings.)

●The Legend Meteor's designs shine brightly!
By the way, when you load a Legendary Meteor, it lights up in a special way...

The stickers set inside are printed in a special way, so the way light passes through each part is different.

Each hero has a different background pattern, so it's fun to see how the appearance changes with each lineup!

●There are plenty of original toy games to play with!
When playing with the Omega Slugger alone, the toy also includes an original character voice for "Okida Sorato."

Actually, it's not just a series of lines that are repeated, but there's also a little fun thrown in...
Taking advantage of Sorato's memory loss setting,
The "remembering the monster" sequence is recreated using a toy gimmick.

Specifically, the part in the image above that says "It's Grime!" changes randomly.
It reminds me of "Dogrido" and "Pegnos". Lol
Including these, there are a total of 9 sound patterns that can be played individually!
This is quite fun.

●The secret behind the sound that plays with the limited edition Meteor
Finally, let's talk about the "Limited Omega Meteor" that has been sold and distributed so far!

Included in the "First-run Limited Edition Ultraman Omega Soft Vinyl & Meteor Starter Set"
When you set the red Omega Meteor...
Amazingly, the music that plays during each transformation sequence (= transformation bank) in the film will play in the background just like in the film.

The key point is that it plays in the background, and the melody doesn't stop until you press the transformation trigger.
It may be an exaggeration to say that it's like ULTRA REPLICA or CSM, but it will provide a transformation experience similar to those.

Next, we set the "Omega Meteor Glitter Star ver." which is given out at events etc.

The moment you set it in slugger mode,
"This is your very own Ultra Meteor!" Sorato's lines ring out.

After that, when you operate the trigger after playing the transformation game,
The line "I bestow this power upon you! Now you too are Ultraman Omega!" is heard.
This is based on my experience of meeting Omega at the event and receiving his power and energy. It's a bit emotional...

Until now, there was no "DX Omega Slugger", so we finally have the answer...
For those of you who have purchased Meteor, we would love it if you would play it on the actual machine!

...What do you think?
We hope you enjoyed the fun of the voluminous "DX Omega Slugger."
"Ultraman Omega" is finally about to begin, and we are all very excited about it, so let's enjoy it together!
