Hello everyone.
This is N-no, in charge of planning and developing Ultraman toys.

The first episode of "Ultraman Omega" will air on Saturday, July 5th, and the toys will be released soon!

Today, we will finally reach the main event.
This article features the "DX OMEGASLUGGER".

You should have seen the basic concept and gameplay on the product page and in the promotional video.
Today, I'll focus on aspects that can only be supplemented through a blog!

■Which is recommended, buying a single item or a set?
Now, the "DX Omega Slugger" is available in two forms.

The standalone version, priced at ¥5,995 (tax included), is the cheapest transformation item in the Ultraman series in the past six years!
It's still not cheap, but we've done our best to make it as affordable as possible...

The set version, on the other hand, is more expensive but comes with a generous selection of 10 Meteors and a Meteor holder.

The "Ultimate NARIKIRI Set" is truly the ultimate complete set, allowing you to complete transformations into all three forms of Omega!

The diagram below summarizes the unique features of the set version.

The "DX Ultra Meteor 03" series, consisting of Trigallon Meteor, Geed Meteor, and Belial Meteor, will be released individually on "August 16th (Saturday)".
If you purchase the "Ultimate NARIKIRI Set" on the release date, you can experience NARIKIRI-playing six weeks earlier!
(The specifications are not different from the standalone version.)

moreover!
This "Ultimate NARIKIRI Set" includes a Meteor that can only be found in this set...
That's "Zero & Z Meteor," which symbolizes the passing of the baton from Stars.

This Meteor has some really special features.
When you set it in the DX Omega Slugger, special messages from Zero and Z, recorded specifically for this purpose, will play repeatedly.
The other sound effects are also activated in abundance, so you can enjoy about the same amount of sound as a small NARIKIRI items with just this one device.

...and so on,
Buying the ultimate set will undoubtedly give you an overwhelming amount of play value.

Furthermore, the standalone version has the simple advantage of allowing you to enjoy the " NARIKIRI into Ultraman Omega " experience at an affordable price.
We hope this information will help you decide which one to purchase!

■I tried playing with the final product
Next, using the same final product samples that will actually be on store shelves,
I'd like to review the gameplay flow and gimmicks!

Playing with the Omega Slugger begins in "Slugger Mode".

The mechanical details running along the blade look really cool, don't they?
Actually, these detail lines aren't unique to this item; the same pattern can be found on the slugger part of Ultraman Omega's head.

The power switch is on the back, and when you turn it ON...

The "Slugger Summoning Sound" that Sorato uses to summon a Slugger will play.
This sound can also be played after startup by pressing and holding the trigger button.

When you briefly press the trigger in "Slugger Mode," you'll hear sounds like "Zubash!" and "Jakiin!"
The slugger sound will play.

The image shows the Omega Meteor stuck in the object,
The slugger sound changes depending on whether you've used Meteor or Omega Meteor.

Now, let's use Omega Meteor to review the transformation sequence!

The Omega Meteor is loaded from the rear of the Slugger mode.

It's easy to get this wrong when you first play with it, but the Meteor should be loaded with the "light blue clear part" facing forward.
It also has a sliding rail, so if the insertion direction and orientation are correct, it will snap into place with a satisfying "click!"

Once the Meteor is loaded, a standby sound begins...
Next, we'll move on to the one-step transformation from "Slugger Mode" to "Change Mode".

If you place your hand on the underside of the blade and pull it down...
The main unit expands significantly!

It transforms into "Change Mode" in the blink of an eye!

Simultaneously with the transformation, the standby sound changes to a sound exclusive to Omega Meteor.
The exposed Meteor part (the part resembling a color timer) lights up with an LED.

Structurally, the Omega Slugger shines an LED light from the Omega Slugger towards the Meteor, and the Meteor then diffuses that light into its internal cavity, creating the illusion of light.

Furthermore, during standby time, the LED light color changes from light blue to blue to green!

This same technique is used in the play, so be sure to check it out carefully.

Finally, press the trigger and the transformation melody of Ultraman Omega will be activated!

The cool, rock-style transformation melody, reminiscent of the intro to Omega's theme song "BRIGHT EYES," rings out brilliantly!

And with that, the Omega transformation play is complete... but,

The fun of playing with this toy doesn't stop there!
Pressing the trigger again after transforming will activate additional sound effects!

Taking Omega Meteor as an example, the following sound will play:

The sound that plays after the transformation play is complete will also change depending on the Meteor you set,
Even with the same "Omega Meteor," different sounds are played depending on the variation, such as the "SG version (candy toy)" and the "GP version (gashapon)."

▼Audio from the candy toy version "Omega Meteor SG ver."

▼Voice of the gashapon version of "Omega Meteor GP ver."

To the fans who deeply and cherish the series
We hope to give back in the form of "the more you collect, the more the fun expands."
Please pay close attention to the differences between each individual Meteor.

■ Niche T-shirt behind-the-scenes stories
These are the main activities, so from here on I will only be able to introduce things on the blog.
I'll go into detail about some of the more obscure points!

● Speaker placement for optimal sound quality
This time, the speakers are positioned so that they face you while you're playing, making the sound much easier to hear!

As someone personally involved in this project, I'm quite particular about voice and sound quality,
I've always wanted to improve sound quality as much as possible within the limited specifications available.

Therefore, this time, we have applied a process to reduce the data compression rate (improve sound quality) to particularly important audio data, such as the "Omega transformation sound," among all the recorded audio data.
It's not simply "making the sound louder," but rather it's processing that improves the sound quality itself.
While it's still within the realm of toy specifications, I think the sound is significantly clearer.

● How does it read Ultra Meteor?
For the individual detection of the Linked Items in this system, we are using terminals called "pogo pins."

The mechanism works by making contact between the circuit board at the bottom of the Ultra Meteor and three protrusions at the loading port, and then powering it on to read the individual ID.

This mechanism itselfThe minions of a certain confectioneryIt's essentially the same, but from a development technology standpoint, the "slide-to-load" aspect presents a challenge.

The maximum number of IDs that can be read also has a depth of over 100 types,
The more Ultra Meteor series you collect, the deeper the sound-based fun becomes!

●What kind of sound does Legend Ultraman's Meteor make?

Next, we'll introduce some ways you can play with the Meteors from previous Ultraman series.

First, in "Slugger Mode"
Each hero's slugger technique / sword weapon slashing sound / slash technique, etc.
Sound effects that match the image of a "slugger" will play. *Some exceptions apply.

To give a few examples
- Ultraseven Seven Meteor ⇒ Ice Slugger sound (Easy to recognize!)
- Ultraseven Seven 21 Meteor ⇒ Velzard sound
- Ultraman Z Meteor Delta Rise Claw ⇒ Belialok slashing sound
- Ultraman A Meteor ⇒ Ultra Guillotine sound
- Ultraman Tiga Meteor ⇒ Tiga Slicer sound
That's the general idea.

There are quite a few rare sound sources, and I was developing it while thinking that the Velzard sound of the Seven 21 might never be recorded again...

In "Change Mode",
Each hero's transformation sound, catchphrase, special attack sound, etc...
One unusual feature is that it makes a color timer sound.
When the color timer sound plays, the LED also flashes red. That was a point I was particular about.
(Note: Some models, such as Seven, do not have a color timer sound in their settings.)

●Legend Meteor's artwork shines brighter and brighter!
Incidentally, when you load the Legendary Meteor, it also has a distinctive way of glowing...

The printing on the stickers set inside is cleverly designed so that the way light shines through changes in different parts.

The background patterns differ depending on the hero, so it's fun to see how the lineup changes!

●The toy offers plenty of original gameplay options!
Regarding the play with the Omega Slugger on its own, the toy includes original elements such as the recording of the character voice of "Ookida Sorato".

Actually, it's not just a simple continuous stream of dialogue; there's a little bit of fun added in...
Taking advantage of Sorato's amnesia,
The sequence where the character "remembers the monster" is recreated using the toy's gimmick.

Specifically, the part that says "It's Grime!" in the diagram above will change randomly.
It reminds me of "Dogrid" and "Pegnos." (laughs)
Including those, there are a total of nine different sounds that can be played individually!
This is quite fun.

●The secret behind the sound that plays during the limited edition Meteor
Finally, let's talk about the "Limited Omega Meteor" that we've sold and distributed so far!

Included in the "First Production Limited Ultraman Omega soft vinyl& Meteor Starter Set"
When you set the red Omega Meteor...
Amazingly, the music that plays during the transformation sequence (or transformation bank) in the show plays in the background, just like in the show.

The key is that it plays in the background; the melody doesn't stop until you press the transformation trigger.
It might be an exaggeration to say it's like an ULTRA REPLICA or CSM, but it allows for a transformation experience that's comparable to those.

Next, when you insert the "Omega Meteor Glitter Star ver." which is distributed at event and other occasions...

The moment I set it to slugger mode,
"This is your very own Ultra Meteor!" - Sorato's lineIt will ring.

After that, when operating the trigger after playing with the transformation...
"I bestow this power upon you! Now you too can be Ultraman Omega!"The following line will be played.
This is based on my experience of meeting Omega at the event venue and receiving power and energy from him. It's kind of emotional...

Until now, there was no "DX Omega Slugger," so it's finally time to check the answer...
If you've managed to get your hands on a copy of Meteor, we'd love for you to play it on the actual hardware!

...What do you think?
We hope you were able to experience the sheer volume of fun that the "DX Omega Slugger" offers.
Ultraman Omega is finally about to begin, and we are all really looking forward to it, so let's enjoy it together!
