The development team introduces the CSM GHOST DRIVER!
Hello everyone! This is the CSM GHOST DRIVER development team.
Pre-orders for the "CSM GHOST DRIVER" will begin today at 4 PM!
We received a great deal of positive feedback from Ghost fans on the teaser page that was released last week. Thank you very much.
For all of you, I highly recommend checking out the interview articles with Shun Nishime and Ryosuke Yamamoto below. You can find different interviews on BANDAI's page and Mynavi's page, so be sure to take a look. It was a fun interview with a consistently friendly atmosphere that made you forget the passage of time.
Also, a product introduction video is available starting today, so please be sure to check that out as well.
Not only can you experience the product's gimmicks and actually hear Takeru and Makoto's voices, but the background music used in the PV (also included in the product) is incredibly cool, allowing you to appreciate the quality of Ghost's soundtrack all over again.
Sorry for the long introduction, but now let me introduce the key features of the CSM GHOST DRIVER!
① Exterior update
Let's start with the exterior.
The most noticeable change in appearance is the significant addition of paintwork compared to the DX version. Except for areas that would normally get rubbed during play, the entire figure is now fully painted.
The black parts have a high-quality semi-gloss finish, and the most eye-catching clear part on the front has been given a pearl finish to give it an appearance similar to that in the show. In addition, metallic paint has been added to the details on the inside of the clear part, further enhancing its realistic feel.
▼Here's how it compares to the DX version. It has a very premium feel.

▼The black and orange parts have a semi-gloss finish.

▼ This is what the clear parts of the CSM version look like up close.
The pearlescent paint with a slight particle finish, and the metallic details that show through, are beautiful.

This time, we've used the mold from the DX version of the GHOST DRIVER as a base, and refined some of the sculpting.
There are no major changes to the appearance of the Ghost Eyecon, and the only improvements are the removal of the "2D code sticker" and "others markings" mentioned on the pre-order page. If we only considered the appearance, we would like to fully paint the Eyecon, but because the entire Eyecon is covered when it is loaded into the GHOST DRIVER, we have not painted it to avoid the paint from rubbing off. Instead,"CSM 15 Hero Ghost Eyecon Set"The molded colors of some of the Eyecons included in this set will be improved.
To further improve the appearance, the internal rotating parts have been molded in black, making them look better when the design changes. With the DX version's white molded plastic, the white frame against the dark stickers gave it a toy-like feel, but by making this part black, the eye stickers blend in better, resulting in a much better appearance. The rotating parts and the stickers on the top have also been changed to simple metallic stickers instead of the blocky holograms, aiming for the appearance of the items that appear in the show. Strictly speaking, the items that appear in the show don't have metallic finishes, but if we didn't, it would have the same texture as the candy toy/gashapon versions of the Ghost Icons, so we unified them to metallic so that they would look similar to the items in the show when there is no light reflection. Blocky holograms would look quite different due to reflections.
(Please note that in the PV, we were unable to prepare the sticker samples in time, so there are scenes where holographic stickers are used for the Eyecons. We apologize for any inconvenience.)
Regarding the structure of the Eyecons, we did consider incorporating sound gimmicks and other features into them at one point,
- Appears just like in the movie
- Rotating pattern gimmick
It was difficult to incorporate a sound gimmick while maintaining the original design, so we did not include one. Even if we had included one, its only use would be to play the Eyecon activation sound, and the unit price of each Eyecon would triple, which we feared would make future Eyecon products less affordable. Therefore, we kept the Eyecons in the same structure as the DX version to keep costs down as much as possible.
The Eyecon activation sound is recorded on the driver unit. To match the sound with how Takeru presses the Eyecon, two types of activation sounds are included: one where the sound plays the moment the button on the driver unit is pressed, and another where the sound plays about one second after the button is pressed.
Also... I know many of you are probably wondering about this, but the "CSM version Ghost Eyecon" is exactly the same size and pin arrangement on the bottom as the original DX version. (This is because the mold was reused and some modifications were made.) The upcoming "CSM 15 Hero Ghost Eyecon Set" will also be the same size and pin arrangement. (This is the only fact we can tell you. That's all we can say for now!)
② Packed with sound effects!
This product includes lines from Takeru Tenkuji, Makoto Fukami, and Kanon Fukami! It also includes lines from Yurusen and the heroic ghosts, who are partners in the transformations. All of these are newly recorded voice lines. You can also enjoy playing with the transformation for the first time by following Yurusen's guide!
Also, although the reservation page says "Choose! Three Riders," the lines of a fourth Rider will actually be included as well.
it is…Copy Makotois!
We plan to add a "Copy Makoto Mode" that can be selected by switching modes, in which case you'll be able to hear many meaningful lines such as "I am you..." and "It's not over yet...". Please look forward to it!
Also, regarding sound effects,"Standardizing the transformation standby sound for each Rider"I think they were pleased with that as well (it was probably the most rewarding part).
In Takeru Mode and Kanon Mode, the transformation standby sound is fixed to "Batchiri Minaa," and in Makoto Mode and Copy Makoto Mode, it is fixed to "Batchiri Miro." This function allows,Ghost's "Tenka Touitsu Soul"or,Spector's "Edison spirit"For example, standby sounds that couldn't be reproduced in the DX version can now be played exactly as they appear in the show.
And... for the "power-up Eyecons with sound" that haven't yet been announced for commercialization, they will emit a special transformation standby sound. However, in the CSM, when the pin arrangement of this Eyecon is read, the driver will be modified to emit the Eyecon's unique transformation standby sound. Therefore, it will be possible to hear the unique transformation standby sound in high quality and smoothly from the driver's speaker.
In addition, although it's a minor detail, the connections between the various sound effects related to the transformation will also be updated to be more faithful to the show. For example, in the DX version, standby sounds such as "Batchirimina" were interrupted each time the lever was operated, but with the DX version, it will be possible to play the lever operation sound in parallel without interrupting it.
Also, the transformation sound in the DX version was divided into individual sounds: "eyelid opening sound," "Kaigan!", "Me!", "Let's go, be ready!~", but in this CSM, it plays continuously like in the show: "eyelid opening sound + Kaigan! Me! Let's go, be ready!~".
You can see how smooth it is in the PV, so please take another look at it from that perspective.
Those are the key points to note!
As an anniversary item for KAMEN RIDER GHOST 10th anniversary, we hope that not only Ghost fans, but also those who have never played with CSM before will pick it up!
If it's well-received, we might even be able to turn those assembly-type Eyecons into CSM that change their design when you press a button...?
We look forward to receiving your reservations. See you soon!
