Hello everyone. I'm Nno, in charge of Godzilla toy planning and development.

This is the first time I've published a blog about a Godzilla toy, but if you've read my review blogs about other products, I hope you'll check this one out too!

Starting in April, I will be in charge of planning some of the products in the Movie Monster series.
We would also like to actively promote and disseminate information about Product Information.

So, today the information ban was lifted and we'd like to introduce you to two special limited items!

Movie Monster Series Kiryu Type 3 (2002) Heavily Armed Eva Unit 01 Image Color Ver.
Movie Monster Series Kiryu Type 3 (2003) Heavily Armed Eva Unit 2 Image Color Ver.

This is a surprising commercialization, but a new item from the Movie Monster Series has been released from "Godzilla vs. Evangelion", which was announced and launched in 2016!
Based on the design of the highly popular "MECHAGODZILLA (2002) Heavily Armed Type" and "MECHAGODZILLA (2003) Heavily Armed Type" from the regular Movie Monster series available in stores,
A special color version painted in colors reminiscent of Unit-01 and Unit-02 from the well-known "Evangelion" will be released exclusively through PREMIUM BANDAI!

The announcement of the product itself was quite a surprise, coming at such short notice that it surprised many people, but we would like to review this item, which is sure to be of interest to fans of both Godzilla and Evangelion, with photos of the brand new, actual sample.



■ Type 3 Kiryu (2002) Heavily Armed Eva Unit 01 Image Color Ver.


First up is the "Kiryu Type 3 (2002)", whose coloring is inspired by the Eva Unit-01.

As the year is included in the product name, this product is based on the Unit 01 motif and is painted based on the heavily armed Type 3 Kiryu that appeared in the 2002 film "Godzilla vs. MECHAGODZILLA."


The entire body is painted in a striking double metallic color of metallic purple and gunmetal, with fluorescent green used in key areas as an accent color unique to the image of Eva Unit-01, achieving a look that is both reminiscent of MECHAGODZILLA and Eva Unit-01.

In order to give you the feeling of exclusivity that only a PREMIUM BANDAI limited item can have, a considerable amount of painting has gone into it...


In addition to the fact that the entire soft vinyl figure is painted,
The back of the body and even the fine details are painted to make the most of the design.



Every detail, from the bumps on the knees to the nails on the toes, is color-coded, making this an item that took a lot of time and effort to develop and produce.


Because the entire body is painted, it has a realistic, heavy feel that is typical of a mecha robot, and just picking it up and looking at it is so cool that it will make you smile...

Next is MECHAGODZILLA (2003), which is based on Eva Unit-02.


The base of this sculpture is the Type 3 Kiryu <Kai> that appeared in the 2003 film "Godzilla vs. Mothra vs. MECHAGODZILLA: Tokyo S.O.S."
Looking at the back unit attached to the shoulder, it's easy to see the difference between this and Unit 01.


The Unit 2 color scheme is no exception and requires a considerable amount of paint, and to be honest, unless it's a special limited edition, it's impossible to achieve this level of detail without putting in the effort to express the color scheme.


Like the Unit-01, the entire figure is painted, with the vivid metallic red highlighting the intricate molding.
I especially want you to take a look at his back!


The dorsal fin is finely colored from the base to the tip, and there is an amazing amount of information even when viewed from the back.

Some customers who have never picked up the "Movie Monster Series" before may have the impression that "soft vinyl figures are not very well sculpted" or "they aren't painted very much," but in reality, I think the figures look quite impressive in both shape and color, so I hope you will take this opportunity to purchase one...or even two!
