The 50 years of KAMEN RIDER have also been 50 years that BANDAI has been working on HENSHIN BELT.
We are now presenting the CSM version of the first HENSHIN BELT, TYPHOON, as the definitive culmination of HENSHIN BELT series, embodying the admiration and passion felt in front of the television 50 years ago.
In today's blog, I would like to go into more detail about the various gimmicks that make up this dream.


-The infrared sensor allows you to transform into the transformation pose!
The transformation pose is well known to everyone, and with that as a trigger, the character can transform!! This is the gimmick that we wanted to try the most but never had before, and now it's finally here with TYPHOON...!
The transformation is activated by an infrared sensor, which is already installed on ARCLE ALTERING, and it's a gimmick that everyone hoped should only be possible on the original HENSHIN BELT, which is where it all began, and it has now finally been installed!



Raise your right arm and place your left fist next to your hip (above the side buckle) to hide the sensor.
When you do, a "keeeeen!" sound effect will play. After a short pause, a "dorrrrrrun!" sound effect will play, so move your right arm in time with the sound.
​When you raise your left fist, it moves away from the sensor, triggering a "boom!" sound and the windmill dynamo to rotate.
Then the LED will rotate and light up while the jumping sound continues.
At the end of the transformation sound, there is even a landing sound.
*When we put it into the actual device, it was too short and just sounded like noise, so we removed it.

This time, the power switch is equipped with "No. 1 Mode" and "No. 2 Mode," so you can become both riders.
The transformation sounds are also slightly different.
However, due to the nature of the pose, transformation play using the infrared sensor is only possible in No. 1 mode.
No. 2 was posed in a way that meant he was not touching the side buckle, so the transformation was activated by pressing the "transformation/special move button" on the side buckle.
The sound doesn't play immediately when you press the button, but rather there is silence for about 1-2 seconds between pressing the button and holding both hands horizontally, so you can enjoy posing and transforming without any awkwardness!
(No. 1 can also transform using buttons.)
In that respect alone, No. 2 mode is slightly inferior to No. 1, but this time...!


●Equipped with the first ever shutter deployment gimmick!!


At last, the long-awaited dream of fans, the shutter gimmick of No. 2, has been realized!!
I'm sure there are many people who have been waiting for this. In a survey about the old CS version 15 years ago, I heard that many people said, "I want No. 2's HENSHIN BELT with a shutter!"
What's more, this time, rather than simply physically deploying it by pressing a button, it is electronically controlled so that it automatically deploys at the appropriate time during the transformation sound (along with the opening sound effect!), creating a truly realistic feel.

The shape of the shutters is slightly different from that in the movie. Those who have watched it frame by frame will know that the left and right shutters are each carved into a crescent shape, with protrusions extending from the top and bottom, and they are designed so that the right shutter is facing you at the top, and the left shutter is facing you at the bottom (it's hard to explain in words!).
However, this product is simply split vertically into two straight sections, in order to fit into the toy gimmick, of course.

The shutter shape shown in the video was achieved because a prop was used to create the footage of the shutter deploying on its own. If they had actually tried to incorporate a rotating windmill gimmick into TYPHOON, which is made up of a large curved surface, the gimmick would have interfered with the movement and the shutter would not have opened properly.
The shutter deployment gimmick itself was something that our designers put a lot of effort into creating, making repeated fine adjustments.
Though there are some slight differences in design, we hope you enjoy the shutter play gimmick itself, which is the best design method physically possible.
*To close the shutter, operate it manually from the back of the belt.

Of course, it also includes the legendary "Let me show you, KAMEN RIDER!" transformation sound, complete with the zipper lowering pause!

We will be recording the voices of the two legendary cast members who created the Legend of Legends, the origin of KAMEN RIDER!

By pressing the dialogue button on the side buckle on the left hip, memorable lines from the movie will be played.
There have been voiceovers in games and the like, but this is the first time in 50 years that HENSHIN BELT has been equipped with voice.
We were able to record a great many voices, including guest appearances from recent years.

According to Fujioka, "I've never recorded this many things before!" so in terms of quantity it is an extremely valuable item.
He spoke every line with great passion. Please receive his soul-shaking, passionate words.

Sasaki-san's voice recording is about to begin.
He appeared on stage for the first time in a while at the recent screening event, and we are really looking forward to recording "Let Me Show You, KAMEN RIDER!"

In addition to being able to play the lines of the two riders by pressing the dialogue button, you can also activate the "dialogue mode" when you turn the power on, which allows you to enjoy some exciting sound play, such as the call of "Rider, transform! Tooo!" being layered over the sound of the transformation, or calls such as "Rider kick!" and "Rider punch!" being layered over the sounds of the special moves that can be activated after transforming.
There is also a line where the two voices overlap, "Rider, double kick!!", and a considerable number of special move sounds are included.

Add to that the eight background music tracks, including the theme song, which together make you feel as if you have jumped out of the world of the film.


- The highest quality belt is made of genuine leather and metal decorative parts can be selected.



Like the previous Complete Selection version of HENSHIN BELT, this one also uses genuine cowhide leather for the belt band.
The texture and luxury feel are both impeccable.
The belt also has 16 metal decorations, each with two different designs, just like in the movie (48 metal parts in total, including the clasp on the back).
The first one has a petal-like shape (the same as in the old Complete Selection, and worn by New No. 1).
The other is a circular button-like design (as seen on the belts of No. 2 and the old No. 1, and on the new No. 1 in recent years).
The ability to replace parts is also an improvement over the CS version.

This varies depending on the story (even the numbers vary when he guest starred in later years), so I think it was a fairly relaxed time.
(The belt is worn upside down...)

The back of the leather strap will be left uncolored to prevent color transfer.
The old CS version was red, but the factory and cowhide supplier are different from the previous version, so this is an area that needs to be verified.
If possible, I would also like to choose red, but I would appreciate it if you could just wait and see without having too high expectations on this point.

This is the most expensive of the CSM series, but the largest portion of the cost is made up of genuine leather and metal decorations, and the cost of these materials alone is enough to make a finished CSM ALTERING product.
Although it is expensive, since the CS version from 15 years ago used genuine leather, it was unthinkable to abandon that and use synthetic leather.
As a product, as it is a commemorative item marking the culmination of 50 years and the half-century milestone, we didn't want to make it a half-hearted product, so we decided to make a set that is packed with the charm of the original Rider, including the accessories.
(The price does not change significantly even if we remove the accessories. In fact, we have included them and adjusted the price to a nice round number of 50,000 yen (excluding tax) to celebrate the 50th anniversary, making it a product with very good cost performance compared to the original cost. We are proud to say that it is expensive, but cheap.)
We will provide more details about the accessories, such as the muffler and emblem, in our next blog post.


Finally, among the accessories, we'd like to introduce the "dedicated base"!
●Includes a specially designed stand that matches the dimensions of TYPHOON!



I think there are a lot of people who display CSM on a "display stand".
However, since this TYPHOON cannot be displayed on that base, we have created a new one with a special design and included it in the package.
Also, since it is a special edition, we wanted it to have the feel of No. 1 and No. 2 and be suitable for display, so we designed white lines on the sides to recreate the atmosphere around the rider's body.
By replacing parts, it is possible to switch between No. 1 and No. 2.
The Tachibana racing mark on the top is also printed on an aluminum plate, creating a luxurious look.
There is another aluminum plate at the bottom front, which will feature the product logo, 50th anniversary logo, and the serial number engraved on the side of the commemorative item.

Finally, I believe that most of the readers of this blog are in their 20s and 30s, but for those of you who are not familiar with Showa Riders, please tell your parents (if they are also otaku) about this product.

Of course, we would also like everyone who was born after the broadcast but fell in love with the series after watching it on video to play with it, and we also hope that everyone who has not yet seen the original Rider will use this product as an opportunity to watch the show.
It's the 50th anniversary after all!
I watched the entire series in order to make this product. (I used to watch it sporadically on video as a child, but this was the first time I'd seen the whole series in its entirety.)
It was really interesting, and I learned a lot of things that I could only notice when I watched it with my adult brain. I'm currently watching V3 as well.
