My name is Nino and I am in charge of Ultraman toy planning and development.

Well, the broadcast of "Ultraman Omega" will finally start this weekend,
With the release of each item fast approaching, we would like to tell you more about its appeal!

Broadly divided into themes
■Transformation item: DX Omega Slugger
■Ultra Action Figure
■ A certain secret project(?!)
I would like to disclose information in three stages:
For now, in today's update, we will be sharing the second update on the "Ultra Action Figure Ultraman Omega Armor Change Set"!!

The previous article was published before the ban was lifted, so I was unable to review it.

Ultraman Omega Rekines Armor


Ultraman Omega Trigallon Armor

We will introduce all the charms of this reborn Ultra Action Figure, focusing on the appeal of the "Armor Change Gimmick" that allows it to transform into these two forms!

■Product packaging revealed for the first time!
First, let me show you the product packaging.
Be sure to keep an eye out for these items when you're in stores this weekend!

It comes in a blister package with each armor part placed on either side of Omega.

In order to visually express the concept of this product using the entire packaging, the armor around Omega's arm is positioned in a way that links to where it will actually be worn.

By the way, the back looks like this.

Three cool forms in active poses are laid out in a large layout!

I immediately opened the package and took the figure out of the blister pack...



A fully painted, finished Omega ready to play right after you buy it is right in front of you!!

The basic form of "Ultraman Omega", which stands out for its beautiful proportions, was introduced in detail in our previous article, so be sure to check it out!

Now let's try putting on the "Rekines Armor" right away!

■ Ultraman Omega: Enhanced transformation into Rekines Armor
First, remove the Omega Slugger attached to the head of the basic form and replace it with the slugger designed specifically for the Rekines Armor.

The key point is that rather than replacing the entire head, the slugger can be attached and detached just like in the movie!
The slugger penetrates firmly, so it doesn't fall off during the transformation process.

Next, attach armor parts with Rekines designs to both arms.

These armor pieces are U-shaped and can be easily attached by snapping them onto the arms.

Next, attach the chest armor to the concave joint between Omega's neck and shoulder.

The range of motion will be discussed later, but the shoulder armor is also connected to this chest decoration via a ball joint.

Finally, replace the right hand of the Rekines Armor with a "weapon-holding wrist",
If you give him Rekinescaliber...


The swordsman "Ultraman Omega Rekines Armor" that possesses the power of the blue dragon is complete!



The sharp silhouette based on the design of Rekines and the volume of the sword make it look extremely heroic!



My personal favorite feature is the design of the head, which resembles a unicorn's horn protruding forward.


When viewed from the front, it looks very natural as Ultraman 's crest,
When viewed from the side, the slugger protrudes forward, creating a silhouette that is rare even among Ultraman series.

The Rekines Armor's special weapon, the Rekinescalibur, has been recreated in an extra-large size that faithfully recreates the image in the movie.

Depending on the product, these accessories may be shortened due to mold space constraints, etc.
In order to pursue realism this time, we received cooperation from LSS, the modeling department of Tsuburaya Productions, and we compared the design with the actual props used in filming.

Now, regarding the range of motion around the arms, which are entirely covered in rugged armor,
I thought it would make it harder to move, but surprisingly that wasn't the case.

As mentioned above, the armor on the upper shoulders is connected to the decoration on the torso with a ball joint, so it follows the movement of the arms and avoids attacks without hindering them!
Therefore, as you can see in the image above, you can still raise your arms to the sides even after changing armor!

By the way, the fact that the arm armor parts don't fit into holes has an advantage in terms of posing...

They are attached in a sophisticated way so that they wrap around your arm, allowing you to adjust each piece slightly to your own angle!

In other words···

As shown in the image above, even if your arm is slightly exposed due to the pose,
By simply slightly changing the angle of the armor and wrist, you can adjust it to look more natural!

By taking full advantage of this movable structure, you can recreate battle scenes from the movie with ease!

A pose with both hands on the handle of the Rekinescalibur,

It also looks great in a bold pose with the camera held in reverse!

The Rekines Armor will be actively fighting in the series, swinging its large sword around, so please try posing it in various ways while you look forward to seeing it in action in the next few episodes!

■ Ultraman Omega: Enhanced transformation into Trigallon Armor
Now, let's introduce the Trigallon Armor.
As before, replace Omega's slugger with a part made specifically for the Tri-Gallon Armor...


Next, unlike Rekines, we will put armor on the "left leg"!

At this time, the toes of the left leg will be replaced along with the ankle.
The "Galaxy Armor" commercialized last year was made up of parts that could be placed over the ankles of the basic form, but we changed it to this specification to prioritize ease of play and holding power.

Next, put on the armor on the whole right arm...


Once he places the "Trigallon Claw" on his right wrist, the transformation is complete!


The "Ultraman Omega Trigallon Armor" with its impressive mechanical and solid design is complete!


When comparing them in order like this, you can see how each of Omega's armor forms gives a completely different impression depending on the slugger.

By the way, the color of the armor is not solid black, but a gunmetal color mixed with glitter powder.
The gunmetal molding color was matched extremely well this time, resulting in a super cool color, so be sure to check it out in person!


As you can see from the photo, the tri-gallon claws on the arms are quite voluminous.

Here too, you can add expression to the way the claw is held by adjusting the wrist joint and the angle at which it is inserted into the weapon-holding wrist.


By adding this nuance, it becomes easier to express the way you use your entire arm to exert force and the trajectory of the technique, which broadens the range of poses you can make!

The yellow spikes extending from each joint of the armor add definition to the overall silhouette and look really cool!!


■Expanded play! Hybrid Armor!?

Now, from here on, I would like to make it clear that this is not a reproduction of the setting in the movie...
We'll also introduce some ways to play with this toy!


Some people noticed this when the product was announced,
By mixing and matching the included armor...
You can even create a trinity hybrid form!

The image above shows Omega in his basic form, with the powers of both Rekines and Trigallon at the center.
Depending on your preference, it's also fun to give him other sluggers or weapons!



I think that some of the weapons and armor that have been commercialized in the "Ultra Action Figure" series can be attached or held by the figure, so
Why not try creating your own "if Omega"?

With all three forms' worth of parts included in one package, I think the play value is the best in the series!
In fact, I spent around two hours playing with it while taking photos to write this blog, and even though I've had a lot of experience with samples during the development process, I still found myself enjoying it without getting bored at all!

By the way, "Ultra Kaiju Advance," "DX Rekines," and "DX Trigallon" are also scaled to be similar to action figures so that you can play with other Omega products together!



This time, we hope that as many customers as possible will be able to get their hands on this product.
The product price has also been kept at 4,000 yen excluding tax (4,400 yen including tax).

I don't think it's super cheap, but in terms of cost-performance, including the depth of play, I think it has good play value.
