Ultraman Toy Blog vol.4 "Evoltluster & Blast Shot" Product Description (3) & "GUTS Hyper" Product Description (2)

Hello everyone, this is SS, in charge of Ultraman toy development.

Today, I will be explaining about ULTRA REPLICA Replica Evoltluster & Blast Shot and GUTS Hyper. In particular, the IC program for GUTS Hyper has been finalized, so I will be introducing it in detail.

<Evoltblaster & Blast Shot>
Following on from last time, we will be introducing the transformation modes that appear in the film, including the one in Episode 9, "Warning."

●Episode 9 "Warning" Transformation Mode
In the battle scene with Dark Faust, the scene where he pulls out the Evoltluster from its sheath and immediately transforms is very cool, and because he uses Blast Shot before transforming, I chose Episode 9 so that you can play with it together with Blast Shot.
During the transformation scene, background music cuts in. In the toy flow, when you press the background music button, a sound effect of the Evoltluster cutting through the air plays as Jun Himeya brings the Evoltluster to his waist. Then, a sound effect plays as the screen moves closer to Jun Himeya's back from a distant camera angle, as seen in the movie. Then, as soon as he pulls the Evoltluster out of its sheath, the sound of the transformation plays, and the background music Nexus -Final Fight- plays at the same time as in the movie.
Furthermore, if you press the button on the right side of the back, the sound of Junes transforming will play and the sound of the metafield deploying will play.

<GUTS Hyper>
In Ultraman Toy Blog Vol. 2, we introduced the gunfire sounds and explained why the cartridges are not individually recognized, and this is a sequel to that.

Before inserting the cartridge, press the gunfire sound selection button to select the gunfire sound. Each time you press the button, the gunfire sound mode will change. Since selecting the gunfire sound by pressing the button is an original feature of the toy, the sound that plays when you press the button is an original sound for the toy. We spent a lot of time considering what kind of sound should be used when selecting a gunfire sound. We will also introduce some of the rejected ideas that we considered.

<Proposal 1 for not adopting selected gunfire sounds>
If we think about it with an emphasis on clarity, we can imagine that when you press a button to select a gunshot sound, the name of the gunshot sound will be played. For example, the image is that when you press a button, the phrase "tear gas" will be played. However, this direction was not taken because GUTS Hyper is not an item that plays lines in the movie, and it would be very unnatural to have someone say the lines.

<Proposal 2 for not adopting selected gunfire sounds>
We also considered making a sound like a short version of a gunshot sound when you press the button, so that you can tell which gunshot sound you can make. We decided not to use this because it would sound like a gunshot sound even though you're not firing the gun when you select it, and we felt that this would halve the fun of shooting a gun. Also, there are some gunshot sounds that are similar, so we were concerned that it would be difficult to tell the difference.

<Proposal for selecting gunfire sounds>
This product includes the sound that is heard when you take out GUTS Hyper, the sound of a cartridge being loaded, and the "clack" sound that is heard when metal is rubbed together, just like in the movie.
Taking advantage of this, we thought we could make it possible to identify which gunfire mode was being played by the number of times that a "clack" sound, similar to the sound of metal rubbing against metal, was made.

① Tear gas sound (Episode 3)
- Press the button once ⇒ You will hear a single click and the device will enter tear gas sound mode.
② Gunfire sounds (Episode 6 Second Contact VS Gazort ver.)
- Press the button twice ⇒ You will hear two clanging sounds and the gunfire sound mode will be activated (Episode 6 Second Contact VS Gazort ver.).
3. Laser beam sound (Episode 7: The Man Who Came Down to Earth vs. the Regulan Alien ver.)
- Press the button three times ⇒ You will hear three "clack clack" sounds and the laser beam sound (Episode 7: The Man Who Descended to Earth vs. the Regulan Alien ver.) mode will be activated.
④Monster catcher sound (Episode 11)
- Press the button 4 times ⇒ "Kacha Kacha Kacha Kacha" will sound 4 times and it will be in Monster Catcher sound mode.

From the fifth time you press the button, the "click" sound will change slightly to a different sounding metallic "clank" sound.

⑤Barrier sound (Episode 13)
- Press the button 5 times ⇒ You will hear a single "clack" and the sound will switch to barrier sound mode.
⑥ Gunshot sounds (Episode 13 Human Collection vs. Leibeek Alien ver.)
- Press the button 6 times ⇒ You will hear two clanging sounds and the gunfire sound mode will change to (Episode 13: Human Collection vs. Alien Leibeek ver.).
⑦Laser beam sound (Episode 24: Go! Monster Explorers vs. Ritomarus ver.)
- Press the button 7 times ⇒ You will hear 3 clanging sounds and the laser beam sound (Episode 24: Go! Monster Explorers VS Ritomarus ver.) mode will begin.
⑧ Signal flare (Episode 28)
- Press the button 8 times ⇒ You will hear 4 clanging sounds and it will enter flare mode.

The order of the modes is based on the episodes in which the gunfire sounds appear.
However, the initial mode when you turn it on is the iconic gunfire sound of GUTS Hyper, "Laser Beam Sound (Episode 7: The Man Who Descended to Earth vs. the Regulan Alien ver.)". If you turn it on and insert the cartridge without changing the mode, the gunfire sound of "Laser Beam Sound (Episode 7: The Man Who Descended to Earth vs. the Regulan Alien ver.)" will play. (From then on, every time you change the mode, the order of the episodes will be the same, starting with the tear gas sound.)

This is a very long explanation, but we wanted to make it easy to understand which gunfire sounds are currently available, and to not ruin the image of GUTS Hyper, so we designed the mode change to occur at the frequency of the sound of metal rubbing.
To make it easier to play, we have added a function that allows you to return to the previous mode by pressing and holding the button that makes the GUTS Hyper removal sound when a cartridge is not loaded.

Additional explanation regarding gunfire sounds
We introduced the gunfire sounds in blog vol. 2, but we have added some additional explanations and made some fine adjustments, so we will explain them again here.

『Signal flare sound』
This is the sound of a signal flare that appeared in "Episode 28: The Fleeting...". Just like in the movie, the sound is recorded to reach the sky. In the movie, the screen changes before the signal flare sound fades out, so the video ends with the sound of the signal flare cut off, but the signal flare sound recorded in GUTS Hyper fades out naturally.

"Monster Catcher"
This is the sound of a gunshot fired at Evolyu using the "Monster Catcher Cartridge" developed by Officer Horii, who appeared in "Episode 11: Requiem for Darkness." It includes the sound of the gunshot and the explosion when it hits its target. When the gun hits its target, in the movie, Evolyu's voice and the sound of the sparks flying when the bullet hits the target are overlapping, but in the toy, Evolyu's voice is removed and only the sound of the bullet hitting the target and the sparks flying are recorded.

"Gunshots (Episode 13: Human Collection vs. Leibeek Alien ver.)"
In "Episode 13: Human Collection," where the "Barrier Cartridge" appears, we have recorded the sound of a gun being fired at the Leibeek aliens. We have recorded the sound of the gunshot and the explosion sound when the gun hits its target. In the movie, the gunshot was fired at close range, so the sound of the gun hitting the target was heard immediately after the sound of the gunshot. In order to make it closer to the real thing, we have shortened the time between the gunshot sound and the sound of the gun hitting the target.

GUTS Hyper will be accepting reservations until Monday, August 20th, so we would appreciate it if you could make a reservation.

The next update is scheduled for Friday, August 17th.
